Thoughtful materials and solutions that enrich life; spaces and shapes that speak in ideas, images, and colours
From the Heart of the Mountains
The journey begins with the extraction of massive marble blocks—each weighing between 80 and 100 tons—from quarries nestled deep in the mountains. These blocks, composed of natural veining, rare colors, and unique textures, represent some of the most exquisite stones found in nature.
Valuing the Scraps
During marble processing in large-scale factories, considerable amounts of stone are left over as processing residues—known in the industry as “scrab.” Instead of discarding these valuable remnants, we carefully select and repurpose them, turning what is often overlooked into the foundation of high-end mosaic art. This approach reflects our commitment to sustainability and material consciousness.
Precision Cutting
The selected scrab pieces are transported to our workshop and undergo a preparation phase. Using diamond-blade water-cooled cutting machines, our team slices the stones into thin slabs and then further cuts them into small, uniform sticks or strips, known as "kalem taşlar" (literally "pen stones"). This step requires great precision to maintain consistent size, depth, and angle—ensuring perfect fit and harmony in later stages.
Color and Texture Matching
Once cut, the stones are sorted manually by color, pattern, and tonal quality. Our artisans carefully examine each piece, grouping stones with similar visual character, to prepare for seamless color blending and gradient transitions. This step is crucial for the overall harmony and aesthetic quality of the final mosaic.
The Artisan’s Touch
This is where the art comes alive. Each mosaic tile is individually shaped by hand using traditional mosaic tools—especially nippers (kerpeten)—to create the desired curves, edges, and details. Artists work stone by stone, cutting and adjusting each piece for fit, proportion, and narrative flow, guided by the mosaic design. It’s a process that demands not only skill but also an intuitive understanding of composition, balance, and visual storytelling.
From Pieces to Pattern
The shaped and prepared stones are carefully arranged face-up on a transparent sheet or directly onto mesh backing according to the design layout. This phase often requires dozens to hundreds of hours, depending on the complexity and scale of the artwork. Stones are positioned with millimetric precision, ensuring continuity in lines, rhythm in pattern, and cohesion in theme.
Quality Control and Mounting
Once assembled, each mosaic undergoes a thorough quality inspection. Our artisans examine every detail to ensure: No gaps or misalignments exist Color transitions are smooth Surface is level and structurally sound If required, final trimming, edge adjustments, or refinements are made before the mosaic is considered complete.
From Workshop to the World
The completed mosaic artwork is now ready for installation or display. Whether it's a wall panel, floor surface, decorative mural, or framed artwork, our mosaics are carefully packed and transported to their destination—homes, hotels, galleries, or public spaces around the world.
